Fundamentals of Acting: The Sanford Meisner Technique
The Sanford Meisner technique, a vital skill for working actors, builds tools to find truthful moments on stage and on the screen.
Class is for ages 13-23. Classes are 8 consecutive Mondays, beginning September 10th – October 29th. 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. $350/student
Fundamentals of Acting: Shakespeare Scene Study
This class is designed to introduce scansion, rhetoric, and vocal techniques to build confidence and understanding. The students will shape audition monologues for a final presentation.
Class is for home school students, ages 13-18.
Classes are 8 consecutive Wednesdays, beginning September 12 – October 31. 10:00 am -12:00 pm. $350/student.
Fundamentals of Acting: Acting for Film and Television
The class will practice working on camera, learning skills for natural and authentic acting to build confidence for working in a professional film/television environment.
Monday Class is for ages 13 to 23. Classes are 5 consecutive Mondays, November 5 – December 10. No Class November 19. $200/student.
Wednesday Class is for home school students, ages 13 to 18. Classes are 5 consecutive Wednesdays, November 7 – December 12. No Class November 21. $200/student.
Shakespeare Audition Technique Workshop
The students will develop and deepen Shakespearean monologues as they practice scansion, rhetoric, and vocal techniques to enhance performances for classical and/or professional auditions. Monologues must be memorized prior to class.
Two separate workshops are held at the Grand Annex:
Sunday, September 30, 10:00am – 2:00pm. $150/student.
Sunday, October 21. 10:00am – 2:00pm. $150/student.
For all classes, Interview/Application is necessary. Class sizes are limited.

Reneé O’Connor, best known for playing the role of “Gabrielle”, Xena’s trusted sidekick on the popular series, Xena: Warrior Princess, from 1996-2001, is a successful actress, producer, director, and avid student. Renee studied the craft of acting in professional studios for 18 years, with teachers supporting The Method, The Meisner Technique, and Classical Shakespearean Training.
In 2002, she then moved on to launch her own film production company, ROC Productions. Recently, Renee finished production on her second feature film, Watch The Sky, a Science Fiction Family film, due for release August 2018.
Prior to her breakout role, Reneé lived in Texas and began her professional film career at the age of 17, starring in the serial Teen Angel, a regular feature on the Disney Channel’s The Mickey Mouse Club. Other credits include the Disney film, The Adventures of Huck Finn, with Elijah Wood; television movies such as Follow the River, with Ellen Burstyn, Danielle Steele’s Changes, with Cheryl Ladd, the second Rockford Files, a reunion movie with James Garner, and Hercules and the Lost Kingdom, with Anthony Quinn and Kevin Sorbo.
She also starred in several independent films, including Ghost House Pictures’ Boogeyman 2, opposite Tobin Bell; The ScyFy Channel’s Monster Ark, opposite Tim DeKay, and Alien Apocalypse, opposite Bruce Campbell. She starred in the action web series ARK, from Judah/Sacks (Executive Producers of 90210 and Diary of a Wimpy Kid) and faith based films, Beyond The Farthest Star, from Pathlight Entertainment and A Question Of Faith, from Silver Lining Entertainment.
Renee recently performed the role of the ‘Nurse’ with the Southern Shakespeare Company’s production of Romeo and Juliet, at the Cascades Amphitheater in Tallahassee, Florida. (photographs by Bob O’Lary for Southern Shakespeare Co)
